Province Seeks Input from Parents on Future of Early Learning and Child Care in Manitoba

The Manitoba government is launching an online survey to promote the involvement of parents across the province in identifying their needs and priorities for child care and their ideas for modernizing the early learning and child-care system, Families Minister Rochelle Squires announced today.
“Parents deserve to have their voices heard as we work toward a renewed early learning and child-care system that offers more choices for Manitoba families,” said Squires. “I look forward to the feedback from parents and guardians, and to their guidance as we work together to ensure that child care is affordable, sustainable and meeting the needs of under-served communities.”
Last year, the province announced the establishment of a parent advisory committee that will provide advice to the government on ways to ensure child-care services meet the diverse needs of parents and families. The committee is now seeking feedback from parents and guardians of children age 12 and under, and their input will help guide the renewal and modernization of Manitoba’s early learning and child-care system.
“Access to a strong early learning and child-care system is critical to Manitoba families, so we want to hear from parents about the best ways to move forward,” said Squires. “We will share the results of this survey in the coming months and I look forward to announcing more key initiatives to support a stronger system in the future.”
The minister will be hosting a ministerial table with sector representatives, including the Manitoba Child Care Association, in late February.
