COVID-19 Vaccine Bulletin #38

Vaccine Administration

To date, 52,664 doses of vaccine have been administered including 34,410 first doses and 18,254 second doses. As of today, Manitoba remains second among provinces in the number of people who have received two doses of vaccine and are fully protected against COVID-19, at 1,247 per 100,000.

Focused immunization teams expect to immunize approximately 2,600 residents of personal care homes this week with their second dose of vaccine. All personal care home residents are expected to be fully protected against COVID-19 with a second dose by the end of the month.

Appointments and Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for immunization have been expanded to include all health-care workers who provide direct patient care in acute care facilities, emergency response services and specialty patient transportation, and home care workers. Previously, age restrictions were in place for these categories.

First-dose appointments remain available in Winnipeg and Brandon for eligible Manitobans. The average wait time to make an appointment by phone is less than a minute.

Eligibility criteria changes regularly. For complete and updated information on eligibility criteria, follow @MBGov on Twitter or visit www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/vaccine/eligibility-criteria.html.

Vaccine Supply and Distribution

To date, a total of 69,600 doses of vaccine have been delivered to Manitoba. This includes:
• 46,800 doses of Pfizer vaccine; and
• 22,800 doses of the Moderna vaccine.

Manitoba expects 15,210 doses of Pfizer next week. Manitoba does not have any delivery projections for Moderna. To date, the Astra Zeneca vaccine has not been authorized for use in Canada.
