Vaccine Administration
To date, 56,044 doses of vaccine have been administered including 34,859 first doses and 21,185 second doses. More than two per cent of Manitobans have now received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
As of today, Manitoba remains second among provinces in the number of people who have received two doses of vaccine and are fully protected against COVID-19, at 1,479 per 100,000.
Focused immunization teams (FITs) are expected to immunize about 3,600 residents of 49 personal care homes this week with their second dose of vaccine. All personal care home residents are expected to be fully protected against COVID-19 with a second dose by the end of the month.
FITs will also begin immunizing residents of congregate living facilities in Winnipeg and Brandon later this week and further details will be provided in the coming days.
Super sites in Winnipeg and Brandon will be closed until Feb. 18, in response to reduced vaccine shipments to Manitoba. Individuals who may have had appointments scheduled on these dates have been contacted to reschedule their immunization in the coming days, which will still be within the recommended window.
Due to continued vaccine shortage, the province will not simultaneously operate two vaccine clinics in Thompson at this time. About 1,000 eligible individuals from remote communities will instead be transported to the super site in Thompson for immunization in March. Once vaccine supplies improve, Manitoba will operate both the super site in Thompson as well as Vaxport. Until then, additional facility improvements are being made to Vaxport to support a better patient experience for individuals who fly or bus in for immunizations. Further details will be provided to communities in the coming days.
To date, more than 400 medical clinics and pharmacies have applied to be part of the immunization campaign once a suitable vaccine is approved for use in these settings.
Appointments and Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria for immunization have been expanded to include individuals who work in:
• COVID-19 alternative isolation accommodations (no age restrictions);
• facilities providing services insured by Manitoba Health and Seniors Care:
f{- primary care clinics (family physicians and/or nurse practitioners, for example, born on or before Dec. 31, 1960);
f{- diagnostic laboratories (born on or before Dec. 31, 1960);
f{- outpatient laboratories (born on or before Dec 31, 1960);
f{- outpatient surgical units (born on or before Dec. 31, 1960); and
f{ - specialty physician clinics, such as cardiology, gynecology and psychiatry (born on or before Dec. 31, 1960).
Individuals who work in homeless shelters, emergency placement shelters, family violence shelters or second-stage housing and provide direct care can now book appointments directly through the call centre. Appointments for staff employed in congregate group care settings who provide direct care to individuals in the Community Living disABILITY Services and child and family services will continue to be co-ordinated through Manitoba Families.
First-dose appointments remain available in Winnipeg and Brandon for eligible Manitobans. The average wait time to make an appointment by phone is less than a minute.

Vaccine Supply and Distribution
To date, a total of 69,600 doses of vaccine have been delivered to Manitoba. This includes:
• • 46,800 doses of Pfizer vaccine; and
• • 22,800 doses of the Moderna vaccine.
Manitoba expects 15,210 doses of Pfizer vaccine this week. Next week, Manitoba is expecting 17,550 doses of Pfizer and 6,100 doses of Moderna. To date, the Astra Zeneca vaccine has not been authorized for use in Canada.
Additional Information
Manitoba’s daily maximum capacity to administer doses of vaccine is currently 7,499. The provincial target is a daily maximum capacity of 20,000 doses by April 1.
