COVID-19 Vaccine Bulletin #54

Appointments and Eligibility Criteria

Today, eligibility criteria to be immunized at a super site or pop-up clinic have been expanded to include individuals aged 65 or older and First Nation people aged 45 or older.

Appointments are currently available at super sites in Winnipeg and Morden. Additional super-site appointments will be available for booking in the coming days. The Morden location opens today and is piloting a new model expected to be more comfortable for patients while also increasing efficiency.

Several more pop-up clinics have been scheduled between March 29 and April 1 in Steinbach, Victoria Beach, Portage la Prairie, Arborg, Lundar, Russell, Riverton, Lac du Bonnet, Killarney, Morris and Stonewall.  Eligible individuals can begin calling to make an appointment tomorrow, Tuesday, March 23.  Additional pop-up clinics are also being planned for April and further details will be provided as soon as possible.

Eligible individuals can book their appointment at a super site online at http://protectmb.ca with an email address and their health card number.  Appointments can also be made at super sites or pop-up clinics by calling (toll-free) 1-844-626-8222 (1-844-MAN-VACC).

Last week, a total of 73,973 vaccine appointments were made including 50,261 by phone and 23,712 online.

The Covishield (AstraZeneca) vaccine is now available through some medical clinics and pharmacies. For more information about this vaccine, including its eligibility criteria and how to access it if you are eligible, visit http://protectmb.ca.

When attending a vaccine appointment, people are reminded to bring their completed consent form (available online at http://protectmb.ca), wear a short-sleeved shirt, wear a mask and bring their health card. To help support good physical distancing on-site people should arrive no more than 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time.

Vaccine Administration

To date, 136,329 doses of vaccine have been administered, including 91,687 first doses and 44,642 second doses. This data includes vaccine administered at medical clinics and pharmacies, though there may be a slight delay in reporting from some of these locations.

This week, Focused Immunization Teams (FITs) will visit more than 100 congregate living facilities to provide first doses to eligible, consenting residents.  To date, FITs have visited more than 300 locations and immunized more than 9,700 people.

Workforce

To support the vaccine campaign, the province is actively recruiting navigators across the province, primarily for super sites in Brandon, Thompson, Selkirk and Morden.  Navigators are a non-clinical role and is an important role in helping clients find their way to their appointments and support them throughout the entire immunization process.

Vaccine Supply and Distribution
To date, a total of 193,760 doses of vaccine have been delivered to Manitoba. This includes:
• 126,360 doses of Pfizer vaccine;
• 49,400 doses of the Moderna vaccine; and
• 18,000 doses of the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine

This week, Manitoba expects to receive 42,120 doses of Pfizer and 12,300 doses of Moderna.

Additional Information

Manitoba’s daily maximum capacity measures the number of doses the province could give every day, if vaccine supply was not an issue. The provincial target is 20,000 doses per day by April and it is currently 19,978.

All data in this bulletin is current as of March 21, unless noted otherwise.
