COVID-19 Enforcement Update

– – –
Province Urges Manitobans to Avoid Fines by Following Public Health Orders

The Manitoba government continues to take strong action to protect Manitobans and advises that personnel empowered to enforce public health orders will be out in full force again this weekend.

Enforcement officers will be present at any rallies, large gatherings and events this weekend, and will be closely monitoring events, including collecting video evidence, in support of ticketing for non-compliance with public health orders. Officials advise the choice to defy public health orders is a serious offence and violators will be held to account.

The Manitoba government has also made amendments to the Preset Fines and Offence Descriptions Regulation and the Provincial Offences General Regulation under the Provincial Offences Act to strengthen provincial public health order enforcement.

Manitobans are reminded that current public health orders restrict indoor and outdoor gatherings and limit group sizes, outline physical distancing measures, require businesses to ensure their customers are able to maintain the required physical distancing guidelines and are wearing masks. The best way to protect yourself is to stay home when possible, limit your contacts, wear a mask and physical distance when in public.

Manitobans are urged to continue reporting compliance and enforcement issues by visiting www.manitoba.ca/COVID19 and completing the reporting form, or by calling 204-945-3744 or (toll-free) 1-866-626-4862 and pressing option three on the call menu.

The Manitoba government is taking strong action to protect Manitobans and ensure timely access to care. Current orders under the Public Health Act are available at:
