Manitoba Launches Online Survey to Seek Input on Manitoba Student Aid

The province is launching an online public engagement to seek input on the Manitoba Student Aid program, Advanced Education, Skills and Immigration Minister Wayne Ewasko announced today.

“The Manitoba Student Aid program is a critical part of our government’s mandate to increase the number of individuals accessing and completing post-secondary education,” said Ewasko. “To ensure our students are receiving the best service possible through the program, it’s important that we get feedback on how the public uses and accesses the program.”

Manitoba Student Aid provides the funds students need for their education through loans, grants and bursaries so that Manitobans can reach their post-secondary educational goals. In 2020-21, $30 million in scholarships and bursaries and close to $60 million in interest-free loans were distributed to students across the province, forming an important part of students’ financial planning for their education.

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on how Manitoba Student Aid delivers services to clients, most notably, the pause of in-person services due to public health measures. To improve upon these services, the province needs to understand better how clients would like to interact with the program. Information gathered through the survey will help modernize student aid services to meet client needs better, the minister said.

“We recognize the role that this program plays in students successfully completing post-secondary education,” said Ewasko. “I encourage past and current students to give us their feedback so that we can create a student aid system that is easy to navigate and allows students to get the appropriate funding to access education and achieve their desired career.”
