Statement from Justice Minister Cameron Friesen on Proclamation of Bill 6, the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Amendment Act
Today our government has proclaimed legislation that prohibits the public consumption of cannabis, complementing existing provisions prohibiting smoking and vaping in public. These changes keep our communities, children and public safe from public intoxication and impairment. The amendments create an exemption to allow consumption of non-intoxicating topical cannabis products. Authorized medical cannabis users would be exempt from prohibitions on public consumption. All Manitobans are encouraged to be informed about responsible cannabis use and visit www.cml-kml.ca. These regulations come into effect Oct.15.
