Recognizing Important Work in Provincial Infrastructure: Schuler

The Manitoba government announced its 2021 construction awards and the 2022-23 winter advertising schedule at the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association’s (MHCA) virtual annual general meeting, Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler announced today.

“Our government recognizes the importance of the construction industry in Manitoba and the impact it has on rebuilding our economy,” said Schuler. “The completion of construction projects across the province provide communities with safe and sustainable infrastructure and further develops our labor force. The annual awards celebrate and recognize the outstanding work and achievements that the construction sector has performed over the past year and their important contributions to moving our province forward.”

Each year, nominations are submitted for projects in seven different construction categories. Projects are evaluated on a number of different criteria, including quality of work, adherence to contract specifications and design criteria, complexity of project and adherence to construction timetable and budget.

The province also released the 2022-23 winter advertising schedule for construction, engineering service provider and material supply tenders for projects across the province. The schedule allows the construction and engineering services industries time to prepare for the upcoming season of designing and building highways, structures, and other projects across the province. The advertising schedule includes many types of projects, including surfacing, grading, structures, intersection improvements and culverts.

The 2022-23 planned construction highlights includes:

  • Capital Region
