Statement From Premier Heather Stefanson Wishing Manitobans A Safe Holiday Season

The holiday season is an important time to reflect on the challenges, lessons learned and opportunities gained over the past year, and to bring a renewed sense of hope and optimism for the year ahead.

2021 has been a difficult and challenging year for Manitobans and indeed for everyone around the world. We have had to grieve, to isolate, to vaccinate, to suffer physically, mentally and financially, and to learn, work and teach at a distance, but Manitobans are strong, resilient and known for their willingness to help those in need.

Our front-line workers, including nurses, doctors, health-care professionals, police officers, paramedics, firefighters, teachers, educators, child-care providers and government workers all across the province have worked tirelessly putting their health and safety at risk to protect their fellow Manitobans. We are forever grateful for their dedication, compassion and sacrifice.

As we fight a new variant of COVID-19, I urge Manitobans to get vaccinated, get your third dose when eligible, follow the fundamentals and the public health orders.

I want to thank all Manitobans for their efforts this year to protect themselves, their loved ones and their community. We will get through this pandemic together.

On behalf of my family and all members of the Manitoba government, I wish Manitobans a safe holiday season and a healthy and prosperous new year.
