News Release - Manitoba

July 1, 2022

Today marks the 155th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, one of the most consequential steps in building our nation into a beacon of hope and opportunity for people around the world.

Canada Day is a time for Manitobans to come together as Canadians to celebrate everything that makes our country great, the best in the world.

It is a time to celebrate our diversity, recognizing that thousands of newcomers arrive in Canada every year to build a new life and give back to our vibrant multicultural society.

It is a time to celebrate our values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law that make Canada a light to the world.

Canada Day is also a time to celebrate our progress and resolve to make our country a better place for all those who have experienced injustice throughout our history, especially Indigenous Peoples, as we work to advance reconciliation together.

After two years without Canada Day celebrations in our communities, I encourage all Manitobans to get out and enjoy the many festivals, parades, barbecues, concerts and other fun events happening in every corner of our great province.

We have so much to be proud of as Canadians, and I hope that we will come together to celebrate as citizens of the most free, most diverse and most democratic country on earth.

On behalf of the Manitoba government and my colleagues in the Manitoba Legislative Assembly, I wish all Manitobans a safe and happy Canada Day!
