Manitoba Government Extends Deadline for Arts, Culture and Sport in Community Fund

Small Capital and Special Initiatives Program Applications Due Oct. 11: Smith

The Manitoba government is extending the deadline for the Small Capital and Special Initiative Program to Oct. 11, Sport, Culture and Heritage Minister Andrew Smith announced today.

“As part of the larger Arts, Culture and Sport in Community Fund, the Small Capital and Special Initiatives Program will support the development and renewal of facilities and spaces needed for arts, culture, and sport programming and activities,” said Smith. “This fund will help strengthen the arts, culture, and sport sectors in our province and enhance their ability to bring Manitobans together and contribute to thriving, sustainable communities.”

The ACSC Fund is investing up to $34 million in local arts, culture and sport organizations to innovate and respond to emerging community needs, the minister noted.

Originally set to close on Sept. 26, organizations applying for the Small Capital and Special Initiatives Program can receive between 50 and 100 per cent of eligible expenses, depending on the project’s overall cost. The grant supports initiatives such as organizational development opportunities, training, technology, volunteer and equipment development and those that will enhance the organization’s ability to increase participation and engagement in arts, culture or sport programming.

Deadlines for the Large Capital Grants Program and Community Celebrations Program remain unchanged.
