Premier Heather Stefanson Announces Next Phase of Government Refresh with Further Staffing Changes

As part of the ongoing effort to invigorate the Manitoba government’s administration and advance the current priority concerns of Manitobans, today Premier Heather Stefanson announced additional changes to key staff in executive council.

“It is critical to place senior staff in the right roles at the right time. The moves announced today strengthen our team and help focus on the priorities of building a strong economy, strengthening health care, and creating a safe and vibrant province,” said Stefanson.

Sean Kavanagh will take on the role of director of special projects for the policy and planning division of government, having previously served as director of communications for executive council.

“Sean has played a vital role on the executive team. His expertise inside and outside government will help us on some of the most pressing issues facing our province,” said Stefanson. “I am pleased he will be able to work on specific projects that will resonate across Manitoba.”

Braeden Jones will assume the role of director of communications, having previously worked as a special assistant to former premiers Brian Pallister and Kelvin Goertzen, and as senior project manager in the policy and planning division.

“Braeden has had key roles in our government throughout the past several years and brings an excellent mix of practical and policy knowledge to the job of communications director,” Stefanson said. “I know he will fit seamlessly into the team.”

These latest changes are part of a promised commitment to refresh and renew the Manitoba government team, the premier noted, reiterating her pledge to listen to Manitobans, take action, and build the most vibrant province in the country.
