Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Wayne Ewasko to Co-Lead Canadian Delegation at G7 Education Ministers' Meeting



Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Wayne Ewasko is representing provinces and territories for the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada at the 2023 G7 Education Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Toyama and Kanazawa, Japan, May 12 to 15.

“As a teacher and Manitoba’s education and early childhood learning minister, I am honoured to co-lead the Canadian delegation, on behalf of my provincial and territorial colleagues at the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada at this year’s G7 Education Ministers’ Meeting,” said Ewasko. “Canada is a world leader in education and I look forward to engaging in collaborative discussions on best practices for education.”

The theme of the G7 Education Ministers’ Meeting is “Education after the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Discussions will focus on the following:

  • the role of schools;
  • ensuring education unlocks the potential of all students;
  • fostering learners who can adapt to social changes and global challenges; and
  • building relationships through international exchange.

“My colleagues and I across Canada’s education systems are committed to supporting the post-pandemic academic achievement of students, as well as their mental health and well-being,” said Ewasko. “Education systems around the world are diverse, and this meeting brings a tremendous opportunity to share our successes and learn from other countries.”

The minister noted the meeting brings together representatives from all G7 countries to find common ground on possible solutions to the most pressing global issues.
