Manitoba Government Announces New Judicial Justice of the Peace Appointed to Provincial Court



The Manitoba government has appointed Monique J.M. Maynard as judicial justice of the peace to the provincial court of Manitoba, Justice Minister Kelvin Goertzen announced today.

“I am honoured to welcome Ms. Maynard to the bench," Goertzen said. "She brings an impressive breadth of experience and knowledge to our provincial judiciary, as well as a desire to find just solutions for everyone who comes before the courts."

Maynard has served in Manitoba as a court clerk for the past four years and previously worked as a legal assistant since 2012. She has clerked in both the provincial court and Court of King’s Bench and clerked in bail triage and private prosecutions court with judicial justices of the peace bringing a strong knowledge base of federal and provincial statutes, and regulations to her role.

Maynard was selected from a list of candidates by a committee chaired by Chief Judge Margaret Wiebe in accordance with provisions of the Provincial Court Act. She will replace retired judicial justice of the peace Boyd Lischenski.
