Opportunity for Commercial Fishers to Share Solutions: Moses and Bushie

The Manitoba government will host a pair of forums for commercial fishers on Lake Winnipeg, Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources Minister Jamie Moses and Indigenous Economic Development Minister Ian Bushie announced today.

“It’s a new day in Manitoba and our government is looking forward to hearing directly from commercial fishers and finding solutions for the future for our fisheries,” said Moses. “We are committed to continued collaboration to ensure the sustainability of our fisheries, now and for future generations.”

The forums will be held on April 30 and May 1 for people from communities around the lake. Those interested in attending either forum can email fish@gov.mb.ca. Further information will be sent out to commercial fishers and stakeholders.

“With deep roots in commercial fishing in Manitoba myself, we know the potential this industry has to both our economy and our communities,” said Bushie. “We look forward to listening and finding opportunities to grow the industry for fishers across our province.”
