Manitoba Government Returns to Session to Deliver for Manitobans
The Manitoba government is continuing to rebuild health care, protect jobs, make life more affordable and help Manitobans raise healthy families in safer communities, government house leader Nahanni Fontaine announced today.
“Our team has made so much progress in the last year in keeping our commitments to Manitobans,” said Fontaine. “Our government is ready to get back to work on a strong and free Manitoba where everyone has a path to success.”
The government house leader stated the government is excited to continue to advance its strong legislative agenda before the house. Fontaine noted significant legislation is set to be considered by the house including bills to improve labour laws by banning replacement workers, making it easier to join a union, establishing an independent seniors’ advocate, strengthening environmental laws as well as protecting Manitoba Hydro. Fontaine also noted legislation to restore autonomy to municipalities as well as further control the sale of machetes are set to be put before the house this October.
“Our government has been hard at work over the summer, whether it's making life more affordable by extending the pause on the gas tax or opening a new minor injury or illness clinic in Brandon to rebuild health care,” said Fontaine. “Returning to session will allow us to continue to advance the priorities that matter to Manitobans.”
