Manitoba Government Announces Misericordia Health Centre Minor Injury and Illness Clinic Now Open

Bringing More Primary Care to the Downtown Area of Winnipeg: Asagwara

The new minor injury and illness clinic at Misericordia Health Centre is now open, providing families in downtown Winnipeg with timely, flexible access to primary care, Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara announced today.

“I am so glad to see more care coming to the West Broadway, Wolseley and surrounding downtown Winnipeg neighbourhoods,” said Asagwara. “The previous government cut necessary health-care services from these communities by closing the urgent care at Misericordia. By opening a minor injury and illness clinic in its place, we’re increasing access to flexible, accessible primary care to help families who need more options when it comes to less serious health concerns.”

The clinic is staffed by a multi-disciplinary health-care team, including physicians, registered nurses and primary care assistants, and will be equipped with diagnostic imaging and medical laboratory services so patients can often be treated in a single visit, noted the minister.

The clinic will initially be open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends, including statutory holidays, to accommodate families’ busy schedules. These hours will be expanding in the future, noted the minister. Patients can book same-day appointments online at https://medinav.ca/, walk-in services will also be available on a limited basis.

“Misericordia’s minor injury and illness clinic will help fill a critical need in Winnipeg, especially the city’s central community,” said Dr. John Reda, chief medical officer, Misericordia Health Centre, who will be working in the new clinic. “We’re looking forward to providing vital, excellent care to our communities.”

“When my son broke his arm last year, the ER seemed like our only option to get care,” said Caroline Fisher, Wolseley resident and parent of two kids. “It’s relieving to know that we have another option with a minor injury and illness clinic in our neighbourhood. I remember using the urgent care at Misericordia, so many of my neighbours will benefit from having a clinic within walking distance.”

The Misericordia clinic is the second minor injury and illness clinic the government has opened in the province, alongside a clinic in Brandon that opened in September 2024. The Manitoba government is committed to increasing access to primary care throughout the province and has opened multiple extended hours primary care clinics in Winnipeg, noted the minister.
