Manitoba Government Increasing Investment to Centreport Canada, Building Jobs and Strengthening Trade

The Manitoba government is providing a one-time $450,000 investment to support CentrePort Canada Inc., Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor announced today.

“CentrePort Canada is a key player in North America’s transportation and logistics network and plays a vital role in creating high-quality jobs in Manitoba,” said Naylor. “Our government remains committed to supporting this forward-thinking organization as it continues to attract new investment and drive economic growth across the province.”

This investment represents a $200,000 increase from 2024’s operating grant and will help CentrePort—one of North America’s largest trimodal inland ports with over 2,300 acres of active development—advance key initiatives.

“We are grateful to Minister Naylor and the Manitoba government for its continued support,” said Carly Edmundson, president and CEO, CentrePort Canada Inc. “The private sector has invested over $1 billion at CentrePort Canada over the past several years, and there is more to come. This kind of economic progress is only possible when there is strong collaboration with business and like-minded partners in government.”

To further strengthen the region’s transportation network, the Manitoba government is conducting a functional design study of the provincial roadway system to identify future improvements and long-term road networks in the Inland Port Special Planning Area.

The proposed infrastructure projects support trade, commerce and regional development, and provide future connections that enable development and improve access to northern Manitoba and the Port of Churchill. The Manitoba government recently awarded the functional design study for these projects, and work is underway with planned completion in fall 2026, the minister noted.
