Manitoba Government Honours Highest-Achieving Apprentices
The Manitoba government is proud to acknowledge the outstanding work and commitment of newly certified journeypersons, as well as the important contribution of employers to Manitoba’s skilled trades workforce, Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses announced at last night’s 34th annual Apprenticeship Highest Achievement Awards ceremony held at the Legislative Building.
“Congratulations to all recipients of this year’s awards,” said Moses. “Your accomplishments reflect the very best of Manitoba’s skilled trades community. I wish you continued success throughout your careers and look forward to you helping us build a stronger Manitoba.”
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of recently certified journeypersons who were the highest-achieving apprentices in their respective trades and recognized two additional individuals for achieving the highest certification marks through the trades qualification pathway.
The event also recognized the technical excellence that advances Manitoba’s skilled trades, while acknowledging the collective contributions of journeypersons, employers, educators, industry partners and community organizations whose commitment sustains high standards and supports workforce development across the province, the minister noted.
“Journeypersons play a vital role in strengthening communities through their skilled work,” said Moses. “They also support the next generation by mentoring new apprentices.”
Budget 2026 increased funding for apprenticeship training by 38 per cent, providing an additional $7.2 million to train apprentices. Ensuring Manitobans can continue to access affordable training for in-demand careers is a key priority. A strong skills pipeline will support higher wages and long-term affordability, the minister noted.
Manitoba’s apprenticeship and certification system plays a central role in preparing a strong, future‑ready workforce. Apprenticeship Manitoba co-ordinates the training and certification of skilled workers in more than 50 trades and occupations across five sectors.
