Manitoba Government Invests $21.2 Million in Infrastructure Improvements in Interlake Region
– – –Improvements Will Take Place in Rural Municipality of St. Clements and Near Winnipeg Beach
The Manitoba government is investing $21.2 million in key infrastructure improvements in the Rural Municipality (RM) of St. Clements and near Winnipeg Beach to enhance road safety, support growing traffic volumes and improve connectivity for residents and visitors, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor announced today.
“Our government is pleased to share these important infrastructure investments with municipal partners as we connect with communities across the province,” said Naylor. “These projects will improve road conditions, enhance passing opportunities and support safe, reliable travel for residents, local businesses and visitors to the Interlake region.”
Naylor will join the Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) in its district meeting series, where she will be part of the Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure presentation and engagement session. The district meetings run from June 9 to 19.
In the RM of St. Clements, surface restoration work will be completed on Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 59 including:
- surface restoration from PTH 44 to PTH 4 (southbound), with construction scheduled for this summer and a total project cost of $1.1 million; and
- surface restoration from PTH 44 to Provincial Road (PR) 317 (northbound), with construction scheduled for this summer and a total project cost of $1.8 million.
Along PTH 8, including near Winnipeg Beach, safety improvements will include:
- surface reconstruction of the passing lane from PTH 67 to PR 231, with construction to be completed in fall 2027 and a total project cost of $18.3 million.
These highway improvements will extend the lifespan of the roadways, enhance traffic flow and increase safety by providing more opportunities for drivers to pass safely, particularly during peak travel periods, the minister noted.
These projects are part of Manitoba’s broader commitment to maintaining and upgrading critical transportation infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient travel provincewide. For additional information on Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s construction projects, visit www.gov.mb.ca/mti/.
